We believe in the value of science, technology, engineering, and math experiences AND in helping others, so we share our excitement (and resources) every chance we get. We go out and happen to things all over the city of Chicago.

Here are some of our outreach activities for 2007 - 2008

We filled and distribute food baskets for Thanksgiving and Christmas at a local church.

At our meetings, we make sure no one falls behind in their classwork.

Pneumatics Workshop - January 12, 2008, our students presented a pneumatics workshop that was attended by 4 local teams: ACE Technical HS, the Ark of St Sabina, Chicago Hope Academy, and Julian High School. Student presenters not only gave an introduction to how to use pneumatics, but engaged the attendees in the WHY to use pneumatiss.

2008 FIRST Overdrive Kickoff! - January 5, 2008, we joined other area teams at the kickoff for the FIRST Overdrive FRC competition! Afterwards, we presented at Rookie "Jumpstart" event at Chicago Hope Academy for three rookie teams. This brainstorming and resource sharing event was enjoyed by The Ark of St Sabina, Chicago Hope Academy and Hales Franciscan High School.

Leif Ericson NCLB/PAC Presentation - We gave a presentation about our Robotics program for parents and students at Ericson's November NCLB/PAC (No Child Left Behind / Parent Advisory Committtee), The evening included demonstrations of VEX robots, hands-on building of LEGO robots, and a presentation about all of the FIRST programs. Parents were very impressed and expressed a desire to start an FLL team next school year.

Francis W. Parker Open House - November 15, 2007 the Chicago Knights participated in the school's open house. We shared the opportunity to become involved with FIRST robotics with prospective Parker families and showed them how robotics can help students learn how to apply math and science.

Science in the City - In October, 2007, we were guest exhibitors at Chicago's Science in the City celebration. We not only exhibited at the kickoff event at Daley Plaza, but we exhibited at all 3 science carnivals!

IRI - In August of 2007, we participated in the post season IRI invitational event. We entered a small pre-rookie team into the event. As a direct result of that activity, we gained two new students on our own team.

Summer Robotics Camps - During the summer, we volunteered as camp counselors at robotics camps where campers learned how to build robots from VEX and LEGO components. At the end of the summer, we volunteered at an end of summer robotics exhibition at IIT. Out of these camps, new FLL and FTC teams were formed.

We mentor FTC and a LEGO robotics team.
